A Word from the Teacher
The Class X Geography paper carries a total of 20 marks in the Annual Examination. Because the marks per chapter are very low (averaging 2 to 3 marks each), you must avoid writing unnecessarily long answers. Be precise and factual.
For your First Periodic Test, strictly adhere to the 250-word limit for the assignment on ‘Resources and Development’. Divide your work clearly into an Introduction (1 Mark), Main Body (3 Marks), and Conclusion (1 Mark).
The Annual Exam guarantees internal choices in two specific areas: Chapter 4 (Agriculture – 2 marks) and Chapter 7 (Life lines of National Economy – 3 marks). Make sure you prepare these chapters thoroughly. The Map Work (3 marks) is scoring but requires exact locations. Practice marking the designated power plants, dams, and airports repeatedly on an outline map of India.
How to Excel in Geography
A strategic approach to the periodic tests and map-based questions.
Master Map Pointing
Map work alone carries 3 marks out of 20 (15% of the paper). Practice locating the specific dams, ports, and power plants listed in the syllabus.
Target Chapters 4 & 7
Chapter 4 (Agriculture) and Chapter 7 (Life lines of National Economy) carry internal choices. Prepare long-form points for these specifically.
Focus on Short Answers
Many chapters (like Forest/Wildlife and Minerals/Energy) are evaluated solely through 1-mark MCQs or Very Short Answers. Focus on facts rather than essays here.
Disaster Management
Do not study the ‘Disaster Management’ book for written exams. The syllabus strictly states it is “Only for Project Work”.
Assignment Precision
For PT1, your 5 marks depend on structure. Ensure your assignment has a clear 1-mark Introduction and a 1-mark Conclusion framing the body.
Secure Internal Marks
Maintain your Subject Enrichment activities and Note Book diligently to easily score the designated 2.5 internal marks.
