A Word from the Teacher
The Class X Economics syllabus is concise but highly conceptual. Because the entire Annual Exam is worth only 20 marks, every single MCQ and short-answer question carries significant weight towards your final Social Science grade.
For your Pre-Boards, pay very close attention to the syllabus limits. While Chapters 1, 2, and 3 are fully included, Chapter 4 (‘Globalisation’) restricts you to only three specific topics: Production across countries, Interlinking production, and Foreign trade/Integration of markets. Do not waste time on the rest of Chapter 4 for the Pre-Board exam.
Also, remember that Chapter 5 (Consumer Rights) is explicitly reserved for Project Work and will not feature in the written examination. Ensure your notebook is well-maintained to easily secure the 2.5 Note Book marks.
How to Excel in Economics
A strategic approach to the periodic tests and final exam structure.
Ace the First Test
Your First Periodic Test on ‘Development’ is an Assignment. Ensure your submission is thoroughly researched and neatly presented to secure the full 5 marks.
Target 3-Mark Questions
The Annual Exam guarantees internal choices for 3-mark questions from Chapters 1 and 4. Prepare long-form answers specifically for these two chapters.
Read Between the Lines
The syllabus notes state that “Questions may be asked from the text of the chapters”. Read the NCERT case studies and sidebar texts carefully.
Pre-Board Precision
Strictly limit your Chapter 4 preparation for the Pre-Boards to the three prescribed topics to save time for other Social Science subjects.
Focus on ‘Money and Credit’
For the Third Periodic Test, practice 1-mark and 2-mark questions focusing on formal/informal credit and terms of credit.
Secure Internal Marks
Do not neglect your Subject Enrichment (2.5 marks) and Note Book (2.5 marks). These are essentially free marks for consistency and neatness.
