Fine Arts in Class X is not about memorizing theory; it is entirely about demonstrating practical techniques, creativity, and the mastery of mixed materials.
The syllabus is perfectly balanced between Activities (30 Marks) which focus on classical art formats (Sketching, Still Life, Landscapes) and Assignments (40 Marks) which push you into 3D and mixed-media crafts (Cardboard Relief, Newspaper craft, String Art).
It is critical to note the evaluation rule: 50 Marks is to be converted into Grades. This means your cumulative portfolio of these activities and assignments will ultimately dictate the grade entered into your final mark sheet. Maintain a clean, well-preserved portfolio of all your artworks throughout the year.

A strategic approach to building a perfect art portfolio.
Master Proportion
For Activity 01 (Logo/Poster) and Activity 03 (Flower Study), layout and proportion are key. Always start with a light pencil grid before committing to bold lines or colors.
Explore Mixed Media
Assignment 06 explicitly asks for ‘Mixed Media’ and ‘Yarn Painting’. Don’t be afraid to combine watercolors, acrylics, threads, and paper cutouts to create textural depth.
Upcycle Creatively
Assignment 05 includes ‘Newspaper craft’. Evaluators look for structural stability and creativity when using recycled materials. Try paper mache or tight rolling techniques.
Patience with Mandala
