A Word from the Teacher
Political Science is a subject that demands a strong grasp of both historical timelines and ideological concepts. Your answers must be objective, factual, and strictly aligned with the NCERT narratives.
In Unit Test I, focus extensively on The End of Bipolarity (8 marks). You must thoroughly understand the causes and consequences of the Soviet Union’s disintegration. For Unit Test II, the priority is Challenges of Nation Building (8 marks). The integration of princely states (like Hyderabad and Manipur) and the issue of partition are guaranteed question areas.
Unit Test III focuses heavily on modern Indian political history. The chapters on the Emergency (Crises of Democratic Order) and coalition politics (Recent Developments) are conceptually dense. Since your Project/Assignment will be based on these topics, choose a theme early (e.g., the rise of regional parties) to conduct deep research.
How to Excel in Political Science
Combine thorough reading of NCERT boxes with timeline memorization.
Master the Timelines
Create chronological timelines for global events (Unit I) and Indian political milestones (Units II & III).
Analyse Cartoons
Political cartoons in the textbook are frequently tested. Understand the context, the personalities depicted, and the underlying message.
Know the Leaders
Familiarize yourself with the key political figures mentioned in ‘Era of One Party Dominance’ and ‘Crises of Democratic Order’.
Focus on Weightage
Spend extra time revising the 8-mark chapters: ‘The End of Bipolarity’ and ‘Challenges of Nation Building’.
Prepare the Project Early
Since the Unit III project is based on recent Indian politics, select a topic like ‘Regional Aspirations’ early to gather solid data.
Map Questions
Practice identifying states created after independence or countries part of major international organizations (like ASEAN or SAARC).
