Geometrical Art Activities & Assignments Syllabus
Bifurcation of Syllabus of Class X Geometrical Art for the session 2026-2027 decided at STS School AMU, Aligarh.
The syllabus for Class X Geometrical Art for the academic session 2026-2027 was finalized in a meeting held at STS School AMU, Aligarh on 24.03.2026. This subject evaluates students purely on their practical drafting and geometric construction skills through a series of structured Activities and Assignments.

Practical Activities
Class X — Geometrical Art
| Ch No. | Shape / Concept | Syllabus Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 ACTIVITY | SQUARE | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with square | 10 |
| 02 ACTIVITY | RHOMBUS | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with Rhombus | 10 |
| 03 ACTIVITY | RECTANGLE | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with rectangles | 10 |
📐 Precision is Key
Activities focus on fundamental four-sided polygons. Ensure your compass, ruler, and protractor are in excellent condition for sharp constructions.
📏 Plane Geometry
You will be tasked with solving classical plane geometrical problems, such as constructing a rhombus given its diagonals or a rectangle given its area.
Drafting Assignments
Class X — Geometrical Art
| Ch No. | Shape / Concept | Syllabus Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 04 ASSIGNMENT | PARALLELOGRAM | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with parallelogram | 10 |
| 05 ASSIGNMENT | TRAPEZIUM | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with trapezium | 10 |
| 06 ASSIGNMENT | QUADRILATERAL | Plane Geometrical problems dealing with quadrilateral | 10 |
| 07 ASSIGNMENT | POLYGONS | Plane geometrical problems dealing with pentagon, Hexagon, Septagon and Octagon (Note: No diagonal given) | 10 |
Grading Conversion Rule:
The total marks acquired across these activities and assignments will be subject to the “Reduced Marks Grading” system.
A Word from the Teacher
Geometrical Art in Class X operates differently from typical mathematics. It is evaluated entirely through hands-on drafting, split between Activities (30 Marks) and Assignments (40 Marks).
Your progression starts with basic, rigid shapes like the Square and Rectangle, and gradually introduces complexity with Rhombuses and Trapeziums. Pay special attention to Chapter 07 (Polygons), which specifically instructs dealing with Pentagons through Octagons under the constraint: “No diagonal given.” This means you must rely heavily on your knowledge of interior and exterior angles to construct these polygons accurately.
Just like Fine Arts, these raw scores are subject to grading conversions. Maintain a pristine geometry file. Smudged pencil marks, double-drawn lines, and inaccurate angles will result in direct point deductions.
How to Excel in Geometrical Art
A strategic approach to flawless constructions and drafting.
Keep Tools Sharp
Always use a hard pencil (like 2H) for construction lines and a softer pencil (HB) to darken the final required shape. Accuracy starts with sharp tools.
Master Angles
For Chapter 07 (Polygons), memorize the formula for interior angles: (n-2) × 180 / n. Since diagonals are not given, you must construct using angles and side lengths.
Show Construction Lines
Never erase your arcs or intersecting lines. Evaluators need to see exactly how you arrived at your final shape to award full marks.
Understand Properties
Know the difference between a Rhombus (Activity 02) and a Parallelogram (Assignment 04). A rhombus has all sides equal; a parallelogram only has opposite sides equal.
Label Everything
Always label your vertices (A, B, C, D) and clearly state the given measurements (e.g., 5cm, 60°) directly on the final drawing.
Maintain Cleanliness
Use a clean eraser and avoid pressing too hard on the paper. A neat, smudge-free assignment sheet automatically secures a better impression.
