Elementary Urdu focuses on building fundamental reading, grammar, and writing skills.
In your Periodic Tests, the pattern remains highly consistent (10 marks each). You will be asked questions directly based on the chapters (اسباق پر مبنی سوالات), basic vocabulary exercises (Synonyms, Antonyms, Singular/Plural), and straightforward grammar definitions (Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives). Make sure you understand the difference between اسم نکرہ (Common Noun) and اسم معرفہ (Proper Noun) for PT1.
The Annual Examination (40 marks) is comprehensive. Nearly a quarter of the marks (9 marks) are dedicated strictly to writing skills (Essay and Letter/Application writing). The Unseen Passage (غیر درسی اقتباسات) carries the highest single weightage of 7 marks. Practice reading short Urdu paragraphs quickly and answering the questions that follow in your own words.

Essay writing (مضمون نگاری) carries 5 marks. Prepare 100-word essays on the prescribed topics: National Festivals, Religious Festivals, Our School, Favorite Personality, and Importance of Education.
Learn Grammar Definitions
You must be able to define and give examples for basic parts of speech: Nouns (اسم), Verbs (فعل), Pronouns (ضمیر), and Adjectives (صفت).
Format Your Letters
Applications and Letters (درخواست / خط) carry 4 marks. Memorize the formal structure for school applications (e.g., leave of absence).
Summarize Chapters
Chapter summaries (خلاصہ) carry 2 marks. After reading a chapter or poem, write a 4-line summary in your own words to practice.
Secure Internal Marks
