Complete Unit Test syllabus for Class XII Physics prescribed by the Directorate of School Education, Aligarh Muslim University.
The Directorate of School Education, A.M.U. has issued the Unit Test Wise Division of Syllabus for Class XII Physics for the academic session 2026–27. The syllabus is divided into three unit tests covering Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Optics, and Atoms and Nuclei.

A word from the teacher
Physics becomes much easier when students study it regularly instead of trying to memorise formulae just before the test. Each chapter has concepts, mathematical relations and numerical applications. These three parts should be prepared together.
For Unit Test I, students should build a strong base in Electrostatics and Current Electricity. Do not simply collect formulae. First understand what each physical quantity means, what its unit is and where the formula can be used. After that, practise numerical questions.
Electrostatics carries 10 marks in Unit Test I, while Current Electricity carries 5 marks. This distribution should guide your study time, but students should not ignore either unit.
For Unit Test II, the syllabus moves to Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, followed by Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current. Draw and understand diagrams wherever required. In numerical questions, write the given quantities, the formula used, substitution and final answer with the correct unit.
For Unit Test III, students should prepare Optics and Atoms and Nuclei systematically. These areas contain both conceptual and numerical questions, so regular written practice is important.
My advice to students: Keep a separate Physics formula notebook. Do not fill it with formulae alone. Alongside each formula, write the meaning of the symbols, SI units and one short example showing when it is used. Revise this notebook regularly.

A simple routine can help you prepare concepts, formulae and numerical questions together.
Understand the concept
Read the theory first. Know what the physical quantities mean before using a formula.
Make a formula sheet
Keep important formulae, symbols and SI units together for quick revision.
Practise numericals
Solve questions regularly and show the steps clearly instead of jumping directly to the answer.
Draw diagrams
Practise the diagrams and labelled figures connected with the chapters you study.
Check units
Always check the unit of the final answer in numerical problems.
Revise regularly
Short and frequent revision is better than trying to revise the entire syllabus immediately before the test.
