👨‍🏫 Teacher’s Insight

Advice for Arabic Students

Arabic requires consistent practice in reading, writing, and understanding the morphological roots of words. In Unit Test I and II, you will face unseen passages carrying 5 marks each. To excel here, expand your vocabulary beyond the textbook.

Grammar (8 marks per test) is highly structured. Make sure you can easily identify verbs like Mahmooz, Ajwaf, and Naqis, and accurately apply the rules for Adad wa Madood (Numbers and the counted objects), as numbers in Arabic have specific gender matching rules.

Unit Test III is an excellent opportunity to score full marks through Internal Assessment. Practice reading Arabic text without Harakat (diacritical marks) by relying on your understanding of syntax and context. Prepare your project thoroughly on the provided topics and practice basic conversational Arabic for your speaking and oral grammar tests.

Teacher’s Study Plan

How to Excel in Arabic

A systematic approach to vocabulary and grammar is the key to success.

1

Master Vocabulary

Maintain a dedicated notebook for new words encountered in literature and unseen passages.

2

Conjugation Practice

Regularly practice conjugating the weak verbs (Mithaal, Ajwaf, Naqis) covered in Unit Test I.

3

Read Without Harakat

Train yourself to read small passages without vowel marks to prepare for the Unit III assessment.

4

Understand Numbers

Pay special attention to the ‘Adad wa Madood’ rules in Unit Test II, as they are a frequent source of errors.

5

Improve Handwriting

Allocate 10 minutes a day to copying Arabic text neatly to secure the 3 handwriting marks in Unit III.

6

Conversational Practice

Practice speaking simple sentences out loud to prepare for the oral and speaking components.
