A Word from the Teacher
Economics requires a clear understanding of graphs, formulas, and real-world economic trends.
In Unit Test I, a whopping 18 marks are devoted to National Income and its Related Aggregates. Do not just memorize formulas; practice calculating National Income using all three methods (Value Added, Income, and Expenditure methods).
For Unit Test II, the 13-mark topic Determination of Income and Employment requires you to clearly draw and explain Aggregate Demand, Aggregate Supply, and the Multiplier mechanism. Your graphs must be neatly labeled.
Unit Test III shifts from Macro Economics to Indian Economic Development, conducted as an assignment. This is your chance to score heavily. Use accurate, up-to-date data (from official surveys or budget reports) when comparing India’s development experience with its neighbors.
How to Excel in Economics
Combine numerical practice for Macro with data-driven answers for Indian Economic Development.
Master the Numericals
Practice calculating GDP, NDP, NNP, and National Income daily to secure the 18 marks in Unit Test I.
Draw Clear Graphs
Always draw a schedule/table and a corresponding graph when answering questions on Income and Employment (13 marks).
Differentiate Concepts
Be clear on the differences between Revenue Deficit, Fiscal Deficit, and Primary Deficit in the Government Budget section (6 marks).
Banking Mechanisms
Clearly understand the credit creation process by Commercial Banks and the monetary policy tools used by the Central Bank.
Data is King
For your Unit III Assignment, include actual growth rates and demographic indicators when comparing India with its neighbors.
